Hey Steff!

As one of your 1200's (I think you liked my stuff, so I checked you out!) I wondered if you're using the GoPro yet, or still sticking with the iPhone?

I'm over in the South of England or the 'Garden of England' and there are some very 'english' places, and now I'm riding more solo I would love to start capturing my rides. Figuring out what works best.

9 months of the year I'll be wearing gloves, which makes the iPhone more difficult to use. Wondered how you get around this?

Every morning that I descend Fire Lane #1 out of forest park I get the same feeling you explained here. It’s crazy on a rigid cross bike with skinny tires but it’s fun! Mt Falcon looks like a blast.

Headed out to CO next week and thinking of doing this ride! How rough is the gravel? Would any ol' road tires do or are some heavier duty winter road tires needed?

It's funny how the flow goes back and forth between riding and racing, like a pendulum. Thanks for reading and next time if you see me at a PHP say hi. It's always nice to meet people in the real world. My green-ish helmet is easy to spot, or so I've been told. I've only made a few of those rides so far this year but I think I'm going to ratchet down the training for a few weeks and just try to ride /w friends so hopefully I'll make it out to more of them.

Awesome post. I did the Cycleton ride for the first time this morning and became aware of PHP, and I stumbled across your blog while browsing PHP "team" rides on Strava. I raced in the Midwest and Texas from 1988-2002 (a "perpetual 3" myself except for a year as a 2 that made me say "no thanks") but have been simply "cycling" since moving to Denver. My existential crisis points opposite yours... I've gotten a little bored of being driven by wanderlust, and the itch to actually "train" and maybe even race has come back now that I'm 41 and the kids are getting more self-sufficient. This morning's ride left me stoked, and I hope to get more into the group-ride scene. Anyway, just wanted to say hey, your blog is actually getting read. Peace out!

Thanks Darryl! I think I will start updating soon. I just updated the theme to something cleaner. I'm frustrated with how Instagram works with Strava so I'll probably put some pictures here and do some writing. The tough part of blogs is that they take so long to do (An hour or two per post?) and then you get basically zero feedback. I guess if I just treat it like a journal that wouldn't be a problem, which is what I will do. Now I'm going to go read your blog.

nice post! i agree, the biggest challenge is not letting the riding and racing become all consuming. it starts out fun and then quickly becomes an obsession. realizing that fact alone is huge! kudos on a fantastic start to your season.
